A bit about this event
Tarban Creek is home to fish, birds, turtles and beautiful mangroves. Its beautiful surrounds of open parks, sports grounds and bush make it a recreational resource for many humans. Although the rubbish and litter left there has been declining over the last few years, it still needs some focused attention.
We will be cleaning it up a week after most other Clean Up Australia events. You can help by cleaning up around the mangroves, around the parkland area, the small beaches, and up and down the creek itself. If you have a kayak, you might also be able to help clear some of the plastic and other rubbish in the water itself.
We need to be sensitive to the pneumotubers around the mangrove trees, and to give the local bat colony a respectful wide berth. Otherwise, any time you can spare to help preserve this special part of the world will be deeply appreciated
